Kögel Euro Trailer Mega Rail. Mega curtainsider trailer for intermodal transport, capacity 37 Euro pallets.
Extra-long curtainsider trailer for combined road/rail transport. This Euro Trailer Mega Rail is 1.3 metres longer than conventional 13.60 m trailers. Its use is permitted in Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Great Britain, Russia and Scandinavia.
This Mega trailer has a loading volume of approximately 111 m³ and can accommodate a total of 37 Euro pallets. This means it offers four more pallet spaces than a standard Mega trailer. This provides environmental and financial benefits: up to ten percent fuel savings, up to ten percent less CO2 emissions, multimodality and social acceptance, according to Kögel. Of course, legal restrictions apply. Based on the latest legal requirements in Germany, this longer Mega trailer can of course also be used for combined transport.
The trailers for combined road/rail transport are equipped with a reinforced chassis. This allows them to be handled safely by a crane. They also have gripper edges integrated into the chassis and tarpaulins made of aramid fabric with gripper tongs.
Rail transport of the Euro Trailer Mega Rail is possible thanks to an ingenious system. It is a combination of swivelling axle stops and a FlexiUse body. When the underride protection is folded up and also by lifting the trailer and loading it into the “Taschenwagen”, the swivelling axles activate an automatic mechanism that brings the axle stops into the correct position using compressed air. This low-maintenance system ensures that the frame does not rest on the “Taschenwagen”.
In addition, the body heights of the variable FlexiUse body can be adjusted independently of each other at the front and rear. This means that the maximum internal height for rail codification P400 can be met exactly and the Euro Trailer Mega Rail fits on every standard T3000 “pocket wagon” of the German Federal Railways with a support height of 980 millimetres. Of course, the semi-trailer is also certified according to DIN EN 12642 Code XL, which means that it is designed for transport on fast freight trains with a speed of up to 140 km/h.
