Schmitz Cargobull S.KOe Cool / S.KO Cool with S.CU d80 ePTOready. Semi-trailers for zero-emission refrigerated transport. Fully electric / hybrid.
For the zero-emission transport of temperature-controlled freight, Schmitz Cargobull is launching a fully electric refrigerated trailer variant: the S.KOe COOL. This semi-trailer features an electric refrigeration unit with integrated power electronics, a high-voltage battery system and an electric generator axle.
The type-approved Schmitz Cargobull generator axle recovers energy from a certain speed and during braking. This extends the operating time of the refrigeration unit and shortens the charging times of the battery via the power grid. With a battery capacity of 32 kWh, autonomous electric operation of 4.5 to 18 hours can be guaranteed, depending on the application and requirements, without charging via the generator axle or the power grid. Charging via the power grid is carried out via the CEE three-phase connection installed on the refrigeration unit and takes approximately two hours.
Schmitz Cargobull is delivering the first S.KOe COOL trailer to Tevex Logistics GmbH from Rheda-Wiedenbrück. This is part of an order for 166 refrigerated trailers for Tevex.
Hybrid solution with ePTO + diesel generator
Schmitz is also delivering an S.KO COOL box trailer with the S.CU d80 ePTOready refrigeration unit to Tevex, which is powered by the e-PTO of an electric tractor. The new S.CU d80 refrigeration unit with ePTO interface is a hybrid machine: it enables 100% electric driving, but in the event of a power failure or absence, it automatically switches to the built-in diesel drive. This makes it easier for a transport company with a mixed fleet to switch to emission-free refrigerated transport.
