Stellantis subsidiary Fiat is also venturing into the market for electric city delivery vehicles, where companies such as eTuk, Piaggio, Aixam and Goupil have been active for some time. The newcomer is called Fiat Tris. It does not excel in attractive looks, but that does not matter for postal services, garden services and city couriers. You can do your daily round in the city with it, without emissions. Charging is done with a normal plug at 220V, so no hassle with charging stations and difficult power connections.
Incidentally, European entrepreneurs will have to wait for the Tris: it will first be in showrooms in Africa and the Middle East. Fiat is still undecided about a European introduction. The country of production is Morocco.
The Tris comes in three versions: as a chassis cab (can be built with a body of your choice), flatbed and pick-up. With a length of 3.17 metres and a turning circle of just 3.05 metres, it manoeuvres easily. The loading platform has a surface area of 2.25 square metres and is large enough for a Euro pallet. The load capacity is 540 kg.
The driver looks at a screen with driving data such as range and battery status. Devices can be charged via USB-C and a 12V connection. The Tris is equipped with three-point seat belts, automatic lighting and a reversing warning.
A 6.9 kWh lithium-ion battery is attached to the chassis. Charging from 0 to 80% takes around 3.5 hours. A full charge takes around 4 hours and 40 minutes. The 48V electric motor delivers 9 kW peak power and 45 Nm torque. The top speed is 45 km/h. Future versions will be equipped with connectivity services for fleet management and vehicle tracking.
