DAF: MX-13 engine optionally available for B100 biodiesel

DAF: MX-13 engine optionally available for B100 biodiesel. Modified engine is supplied to order in XF, XG or XG+ and reduces emissions.

The DAF 13-litre engine with 480 hp can now also be ordered as suitable for the use of B100 biodiesel. This PACCAR MX-13 engine is sold in the DAF XF, XG and XG+. The buyer who orders this option will receive a modified engine. The modifications concern the software for the engine management and the EAS exhaust system (exhaust after-treatment system). It is not possible to convert engines that have already been delivered to this option.

DAF is introducing the B100 option because in some countries, e.g. France, B100 biodiesel is becoming popular as an environmentally friendly fuel, and other types of biodiesel have problems with availability. With biodiesel, a transport operator can reduce its emissions by up to 90%. The option may also be available on other PACCAR diesels, depending on market demand.

B100 biodiesel, also known as FAME (Fatty Acid Methyl Esters) or RME (Rapeseed Methyl Esters), is a fuel produced from used vegetable oils and fats. It has a lower calorific value than normal diesel, so the amount of fuel injected is different from an engine that uses mineral diesel. (April 7, 2025)
