DAF Trucks responds to the variable Maut rates in Germany and the upcoming kilometer charge for trucks in the Netherlands. New trucks that are configured for economy and low emissions will receive the Efficiency Champion label. This is emphasized on the outside of the truck with a special logo next to the type designation.
Trucks that fall into at least Class 3 of the Maut are eligible for this classification. The owner will then receive a discount on the Maut and on the future Dutch kilometer charge.
DAF dealers can use the TOPEC program from DAF Trucks to configure a new truck for economy and low CO2 emissions. This can be done, for example, by applying a rapid rear axle reduction, which reduces the engine speed at a certain speed. Or a smaller fuel tank.
New DAF trucks already come with various fuel-saving features as standard, such as camera mirrors, an aerodynamics package, low-rolling-resistance tires and predictive cruise control.
“Optimal specification and registration before July 1, 2025 means every kilometer within the German Maut will benefit for the next six years,” says Bart Bosmans, member of the Board of Management of DAF Trucks and responsible for Marketing & Sales. “Every day, we work on making our trucks even more economical. The Efficiency Champions show how important vehicle specifications are in achieving the lowest fuel consumption and the lowest CO2 emissions.”
