Hendrickson’s Zero Maintenance Damping system (ZMD) provides an exclusive shockless ride technology. It is designed to provide uniform damping levels over the life of the air spring, and it eliminates conventional shock absorbers. Besides that, it helps reduce overall suspension maintenance, and enhances driver and cargo protection.
How does the ZMD system work? As the axle moves up and down, pressurized air is exchanged between the flex member and the piston. By controlling this air flow, ZMD air springs provide continuous suspension damping for the entire life of the air spring.
The ZMD system can be mounted into a Roadmaax heavy-duty rear suspension system which is then named Roadmaax Z. The Roadmaax Z is available with 13,6, 27 and 40,6 tonnes capacity. Features:
- Barpin Spring eye connection eliminates slipper pad and spring lash, providing a consistent ride
- ZMD means no separate shock absorbers, and supporting brackets. This means also less maintenance
- optimised front limb length allows for high roll-stiffness while maintaining a comfortable ride – and minimising torque reactivity and roll steer, for improved and secure handling
- kicked in tail helps to reduce weight, eliminating the requirement for a cross-channel
- compact frame hanger limits frame stresses and integrates to common OE cross members
- Hendrickson Traax Rod torque rods, in the transverse position, deliver extended performance and restrict walk-out
- drop-in shims make alignment fast and easy, thus increasing tyre life.
