MAN TGS chassis equipped with the German manufacturer’s electric drivetrain. MAN currently delivers this electric truck ex works. The vehicle in the photo is in service with Mainfreight in ‘s-Heerenberg.
The MAN eTGS’s electric motor produces 330 kW/450 hp. The eTGS is available in various chassis lengths and with up to six battery packs. The truck in the photo is equipped with six of these large batteries (540 kWh capacity, of which 480 kWh is usable) and weighs 11,690 kg (including the swap body and slide-under tailgate). The remaining payload is 8,310 kg. A nice feature of this chassis is that you can tow a trailer; such a combination is approved for up to 50 tons. The range is decent at 450 km.
Mainfreight has facilities on its premises for charging electric trucks. The vehicle in the photo is used with a trailer, which is occasionally connected and disconnected during the journey.
MAN Trucks currently has a recall for electric TGSs and TGXs for replacing mounting brackets for the high-voltage batteries. These need to be replaced by the dealers, before they tear off.
