Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 — 6×2 chassis — with Kiesling electrically refrigerated body

Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 — 6×2 chassis — with Kiesling electric refrigerated body. 6×2 chassis with refrigerated body, fully electric drive.

The electrically powered Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 with ProCabin, as a 6×2 chassis with steered trailing axle. The double electric motor of this vehicle is located directly on the second axle (e-axle) and has a built-in four-speed automatic transmission, and Predictive Powertrain Control.

The battery capacity is 621 kWh, which is good for an estimated 500 kilometers (not including consumption via the PTO). Charging can be done with 400 kW or with the faster 1 MW system (MCS). It is remarkable that the brakes work almost entirely electrically, with a braking power of 600 kW, which means that the (present) brake pads hardly wear. The driver can program the braking behavior himself: it is possible to choose one-pedal operation. The e-axle has a continuous output of 400 kW and a peak output of 600 kW.

The chassis of the MB eActros 600 6×2 has a gross vehicle weight of 28 tonnes (9-tonne front axle, 19-tonne rear axles) and is equipped with air suspension. The maximum gross train weight is 44 tonnes, making it possible to tow a trailer.

The eActros has various driver assistance and safety systems, including Active Brake Assist 6 (ABA 6), Frontguard Assist, Active Sideguard Assist 2 (ASGA 2) and Active Drive Assist 3 (ADA 3). ABA 6 can respond to moving people, cyclists on the road, crossing or oncoming pedestrians and stationary pedestrians up to a vehicle speed of 60 km/h with an automatic emergency stop. In addition, the new Frontguard Assist can warn the driver of vulnerable road users directly in front of the cab.

The truck in the photo is equipped with a refrigerated/freezer body from the German manufacturer Kiesling. The cooling engine has an electric drive that uses the power supply of the chassis. This cooling engine is beautifully concealed behind the roof spoiler of the eActros, creating a beautiful aerodynamic whole. This combination of electric chassis with electric cooling box makes it possible to drive completely emission-free (and low-noise) refrigerated distribution.
