Schmitz Cargobull S.CS EcoVarios — aerodynamic curtainsider trailer with adjustable height

Schmitz Cargobull S.CS EcoVarios — aerodynamic curtainsider trailer with adjustable height. Sliding tarpaulin trailer, roof height adjustable front and rear.

The EcoVarios is part of a new series of EcoGeneration sliding tarpaulin trailers from Schmitz Cargobull. The trailer manufacturer estimates that fuel savings of up to 10% are possible if the trailer has better aerodynamics. In particular if the rear of the trailer is lower. This creates a kind of drop shape and there is less drag.

There are various models with a lowered rear. We previously described the S.CS EcoFix, with a fixed low rear. And this is the EcoVarios. The name says it all: the height is adjustable. Both at the front and at the rear. So if you are driving with a not so high load, the roof can easily be in the lowest position.

With the roof in the highest position, the external height of the trailer is 400 cm. Internally it can have an internal height of up to 300 cm (depending on the frame height, various heights are available). The roof height can be lowered by approximately 40 cm. This can be seen in the inset with the photo. This leaves a loading height of 260 cm (maximum). For many transports this is more than sufficient.

Lowering or raising the roof is only a few minutes’ work for an experienced driver. The sliding tarpaulin can be used in any position. The chassis used (Modulos) is standard, with a 1 million kilometre guarantee from Schmitz.
