Volvo Trucks FH16 780 Aero – 4×2 tractor

Volvo FH16 780 4x2T Aero. 4×2 tractor unit, max. gross combination weight 50 tonnes, power 577 kW (780 hp), Aero cab.

The FH16 has been the flagship of Volvo Trucks’ diesel range for almost twenty years. The 16-liter engine has gradually increased its power output: 500, 600, 660, 700, 750, and now 780 hp. Buyers can now also opt for the Aero cab, which is several decimeters longer than the standard cab and improves the truck’s aerodynamics.

Pictured here is the (rare) 4×2 version of the Volvo FH16 780, with the largest cab (Globetrotter XXL) in Aero version. On the road, we’ll more often see it as a 6×2, 6×4, 8×4, or 10×4 tractor unit. This Volvo has an 8-ton parabolic front axle (a 9- or 10-ton front axle is also available, or an independent front suspension can be ordered). The rear axle is a 13-ton air-sprung axle with four air springs. The vehicle in the photo has a medium chassis height.

The FH16 is packed with advanced electronics. In addition to the mandatory driver assistance systems, these include I-See, which adjusts speed and gearshifts based on the surrounding geography.
