Multifunctional electric truck chassis for the construction sector. Can be configured in various ways, for example, with a flatbed, loading crane, tipper, or container installation. The front bumper is characteristic of the FMX: it is sturdier than the FM bumper and has a larger approach angle for driving in (light) terrain.
The vehicle in the photo is in use at Vels Transport / Kisjes Transport (NL) and has a powerful 50-ton-meter crane from HMF behind the sleeper cab. The truck can be outrigged, allowing it to independently load and unload construction materials. The body was built by Vlarotech bv from Zwaag (NL).
The 660 hp / 490 kW output (torque: 2400 Nm) is generated by three electric motors located under the cab. This truck’s energy reservoir consists of five battery packs totaling 450 kWh, of which 309 kWh is available for use. Charging is possible with an AC connection (43 kW) or a DC charging station with a maximum output of 250 kW. The gearbox is the known I-Shift with twelve gear ratios, also coupled to a power take-off (PTO) to drive the crane, with an output torque of 600 Nm.
The Volvo FMXe chassis has a 10-ton air-suspended front axle, while the rear axles together (also air suspension) have a legal weight of 19 tons, bringing the gross vehicle weight to 29 tons (technically 32 tons). The vehicle pictured weighs 22,315 kg including the body, and its payload is therefore 6,685 kg. The gross combination weight is 50 tonnes.
The three-axle Volvo FMX Electric is also available as a 6×4, and with other power outputs and battery capacities.
