Volvo Trucks FH Aero Electric Extended Range 6×2 WB360 / WB410 — electric tractor. 6×2 tractor, electric drive with e-axle, available in two lengths, range 525 / 700 km.
The Volvo FH Aero Electric with Extended Range will come to market at the end of 2026, the truck with which Volvo aims to maintain its lead in the electric tractor segment. More details of this Volvo have now been released. The most significant change is the adjustment of the expected range: 700 instead of 600 km (subject to driving style and load). This applies to the long version (wheelbase 3600 mm) with eight batteries. The short version (wheelbase 3600 mm), with six batteries, achieves up to 525 km.
The dual electric motor is located directly on the second axle and features a built-in – automatic – six-speed gearbox. The maximum power output is 460 kW (623 hp). As previously announced by us, this FH Aero features an extra axle to bring the payload to an acceptable level. Not a mid-lift axle as you might expect, but a steered trailing axle.
The truck can be charged with 700 kW of power (MCS system), allowing you to charge from 20 to 80 percent in 50 minutes. Charging with lower power is also possible: 350 kW (CCS system), from 20 to 80 percent charge in 85 minutes. Volvo avoids 1000 kW charging, as this would be less beneficial for the batteries.
The Volvo FH Aero Electric Extended Range with a long wheelbase is one of the longest tractor units on the market, with a length of nearly 8 meters (the exact length is not yet known to us).
Both the long-wheelbase and short-wheelbase versions, in combination with a standard 13.60-meter semi-trailer, meet the legal requirements regarding dimensions. Since this involves an aerodynamic tractor, the maximum combination length does not apply, but the combination must meet the requirements for the described path (outer turning circle max. 1250 cm, inner minimum 530 cm).
The tractor can optionally be equipped with a sliding fifth wheel to adjust the position of the pivot point.
