Scania’s electric long-distance tractor is the 40R, with the EM 400 C1-4 electric motor producing 400 kW/540 hp. This vehicle is based on the diesel tractor, with the diesel engine replaced by an electric motor. Scania has released few technical details, but what we do know is that the vehicle pictured can carry 600 kWh of electricity. The 45R was already presented at the end of 2024, with 728 kWh and a range of 530 km at a gross combination weight of 40 tonnes. Scania will supply this tractor with a variety of wheelbases, because the longer the truck, the more batteries can be installed.
Charging can be done in two ways: with a standard fast charger (375 kW) or an MCS charger (1000 kW).
