We are all familiar with the automatic locking when we walk away from the car. Ford is taking this a step further. Especially for users who make many stops during the day, Ford is now introducing Delivery Assist1. This on-board assistant can automatically switch off the engine, close the windows, lock the doors and activate the hazard lights. This saves a few seconds per stop and makes courier work more productive, Ford reasons. In addition, drivers can concentrate better on the surroundings and on delivering a shipment.
Once a driver has dropped off their package, Delivery Assist also simplifies the process of driving away. The van unlocks using the integral keyless access system. By pressing the brake pedal, the engine is restarted and the windows return to their previous position. Drivers can adjust the window, hazard light and lock automations to their own preferences.
