Krone Box Liner SDC27 eLTU70 with Compact Rear Container Chassis. Chassis for container truckers: good handling and low weight.
Flush rear loading of 20 ft containers is essential in container transport. For this purpose, Krone offers the Box Liner SDC27 eLTU70 multi-functional chassis with Compact rear loading. The multi-functional chassis is easy to operate and accommodates containers from 20 to 45 ft. It features a center extension (central telescopic extension), a rear extension, and an optional front extension for 45 ft containers. Krone uses high-strength steels, resulting in a base vehicle weight of only 4,600 kilograms. The load distribution when transporting flush rear-loaded 20 ft containers is significantly better than with comparable vehicles.
In combined transport, a 20 ft container with a total weight of 28 t is transported flush rear-loaded with the Krone multi-functional chassis with a fifth-wheel load of approximately 6 t. This increased fifth-wheel load also translates to increased payload: almost a ton more than comparable chassis.
The weight savings are achieved through the new compact rear section. The chassis’s underride guard is made of high-strength steel and is 40 mm thick longitudinally. The 20-foot container is now positioned significantly further forward, with its center of gravity closer to the kingpin.
Further advantages include:
– The chassis is easily convertible from transporting one 40-foot container to transporting two 20-foot containers.
– The front beam is easy to operate and features a front extension for front locking. This means fewer issues with loose components.
– The wheelbase positions are color-coded and selectable via a lever.
– The taillights are mounted in a protected position and integrated into the rear container beam.
– The chassis does not have slotted twistlock housings with replaceable and easily lost locking mushrooms, reducing the risk of losing loose parts.
– Exceptions are the container guides: These are removable to allow access to the front 20 ft container when transporting two 20 ft containers.
