MAN coach with electric drive and a range of up to 650 km. Production of this touringcar will start in 2026 in Ankara, Turkey. After the arrival of electric city and intercity buses, and the electric truck eTGX, the southern German manufacturer is focusing on coaches. The drive uses the technology of the eTGX and batteries that MAN produces itself in Nuremberg. As for the battery packs, the buyer can choose from capacities of 356 to 534 kWh.
The charging capacity is up to 375 kW, and can later be increased to 750 kW. With these values and taking into account the driving and rest times of drivers, MAN believes that an eLion can cover the same distances as a diesel bus.
The Lions Coach E offers space for 61 passengers, plus 1 driver and 1 tour guide/co-driver. The basis of the eCoach is the Lions Coach, introduced in 2017. Initially, the eCoach will be released as a 13.9-metre-long three-axle vehicle with a maximum technically permissible gross weight of 27.3 tonnes. There is 11 to 13 cubic metres of luggage space, depending on the layout. After the electric Lions Coach 14 E, MAN will gradually introduce more models in the coach segment in the period 2027-2030.
