Nooteboom is partnering with Rheinmetall to build military equipment

Nooteboom is partnering with Rheinmetall to build military equipment in Romania for on- and off-road transport of heavy vehicles.

The production of military equipment is—unfortunately—currently back in the spotlight, along with the associated logistical challenges. The Dutch market leader in the field of special transport equipment, Nooteboom Trailers bv, is now partnering with the German technology company Rheinmetall for the development and distribution of military Heavy Equipment Trailer (HET) solutions. The collaboration encompasses the joint development, production, and marketing of these systems.

Both Rheinmetall and Nooteboom are already suppliers to the Dutch Ministry of Defence. The partnership will strengthen this. The joint solution combines Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles tractor units with a suitable trailer system, enabling Rheinmetall to offer complete, vertically integrated HET solutions. The integrated HET system is designed for the transport of heavy wheeled and tracked vehicles, including recovery vehicles and armored engineering vehicles, both on- and off-road. Production will take place in Romania. The strength of the partnership lies in the complementary expertise of both parties. Nooteboom is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of civil solutions for special transport. The company possesses decades of experience in designing, manufacturing, and maintaining special trailers for loads up to 200 tons and enjoys an excellent reputation among logistics service providers and specialized transport companies.

Rheinmetall contributes its expertise in the production of military vehicles, cost-efficient industrial capabilities, and international market access as part of a globally leading defense group. “Through the collaboration with Rheinmetall, we are accelerating the further development of its advanced technologies and expertise in special transport solutions, laying the foundation for even more innovative applications in both military and civil transport,” says Nooteboom.
