Volvo Trucks FM Electric Low Entry Cab (LEC). Truck chassis, electric drive, low-entry cab, available as 4×2, 6×2, 6×4 or 8×4.
May we introduce you to the first Volvo Truck to be delivered exclusively with electric drive. Plus, getting into the cab is even easier than in a van. The I-Shift gearbox makes driving easy and relaxed. Comfort and safety are at a high level.
We are talking about the new FM Electric Low Entry Cab from Volvo Trucks, which was introduced at the IAA 2024, and the first units of which are now being delivered.
This FM Electric LEC has everything it takes to become the new standard in household waste collection services. This is how these low-entry trucks usually are deployed. The driver can get in and out quickly and has an excellent view of the street. But we also think this type of truck is very suitable for distribution transport. The low entry is a huge advantage for distribution drivers.
The Volvo FM LEC is factory-fitted with an electric Power Take-Off (e-PTO) to power different applications, which also runs on the vehicle’s batteries.
A 6×2 with steered trailing axle is the most obvious configuration for household waste services. HVC Groep from Alkmaar, the Netherlands, was the first to buy this truck and will use it for waste collection. HVC chose a short chassis (wheelbase 3.60 m), which makes the truck extremely manoeuvrable. Including body and battery packs, this truck weighs around 15 tonnes, leaving 11 tonnes of loading capacity. HVC opted for a cabin with a high roof, which has standing height in the cabin.
For lighter applications, this FM LEC is also available as a 4×2 chassis. Other possible configurations are 6×4 and 8×4.
