A four-axle heavy-duty tractor unit converted by Wierda Voertuigtechniek, based on the MAN TGX 33.580 6×4. This unit serves as a more affordable and compact alternative to the TGX series flagship (the 41.640, which comes standard with a torque converter, leaf suspension, a 100-tonne heavy-duty trailer coupling, and a front-mounted towing coupling). The TGX 37.580 is powered by the 15.2-litre D3876 diesel engine, delivering 427 kW / 580 hp.
This MAN-WVT 37.580 — photographed at IAA 2026 — features rear air suspension, a 8 mm thick chassis, an (automatic) dry clutch, and a wheelbase of 390 cm (compared to 405 cm for the 41.640). Alternatively, it is available with a wheelbase (hub 1 to hub 3) of 360 cm or 330 cm (original MAN wheelbases; not shortened), making the entire tractor unit 30 cm or 60 cm shorter, respectively.
In addition to adding a steered lift axle to the 6×4 chassis, Wierda’s work involves installing a tower behind the cab that houses the diesel tanks and auxiliary air tanks for the low-loader trailer. For the versions with 360 cm and 330 cm wheelbases, the AdBlue tank, battery, and standard air reservoirs are also relocated to the tower, as there is no longer room for them on the chassis.
