DAF Trucks presents a range of product innovations at IAA

DAF Trucks presented a range of product innovations at IAA Transportation; a summary follows below.

• New XD/XF 10×4 chassis for construction applications, featuring two steered front axles (options of 8, 9, or 10 tonnes per axle line) and a 34-tonne tridem rear axle assembly (two driven axles plus a liftable, steered trailing axle)
• Lowered chassis for car transport—with a chassis height of 83 cm—achieved through the use of low-profile tyres. Available as XD or XF; the XD model allows vehicles to be loaded above the cab
• DAF electric trucks featuring LFP batteries (rechargeable to 100%) and a range of over 550 km.
  • DAF XG and XG+ models are now also available as Electric versions
  • Electric 6×2 tractors with steered leading or trailing axles
  • Electric 6×2 chassis with a 10-tonne trailing axle, specifically for tipper bodies
  • Electric 6×4 and 8×4 chassis; choice of 19- or 21-tonne drive axle assemblies and various gear ratios
  • Electrically powered BDF swap-body chassis with space for up to 5 battery packs
  • Battery packs can now be mounted further towards the rear of the chassis for improved weight distribution
  • DAF now also supplies PACCAR charging stations and battery storage systems
• Starting this autumn, DAF trucks will be delivered with a DTE badge, standing for DAF Transport Efficiency. This signifies maximum transport efficiency through low operating costs, high driver comfort, and optimal uptime. This includes, among other things:
  • DAF TruckIQ for proactive customer support
    1. wireless vehicle software updates
    2. PreDiagnostics: the vehicle informs the workshop of upcoming maintenance needs so it can be scheduled
    3. Smart Service Alerts: on-board diagnostics detect potential issues at an early stage
  • New features to improve vehicle efficiency and safety
    1. DAF Drowsiness and Distraction Detection: alerts the driver to lapses in attention
    2. DAF On-Board Fuel Monitoring System: provides the driver with feedback on fuel consumption
    3. DAF On-Board Weight Monitoring System: continuous monitoring of vehicle and combination weight
