Kia PV5 Cargo L1H1. Panel van, electric drive, load length 225 cm.
Futuristic is a good way to describe the Kia PV5. This electric van from Kia is the model for a new generation of commercial vehicles designed with electric drive and modularity as a starting point. Modular means that the PV5 can be supplied in all sorts of versions thanks to a concept of interlocking building blocks. For example, there are short and long versions, a high-roof version, a passenger van with variable seating configurations, a combination of passenger van and freight van, and a chassis cab.
This modular design is already present in other vans, but the key difference is that the PV5 is specifically designed as an electric vehicle and not, like the VW Transporter or the Renault Master, with a choice between a combustion engine and electric power.
Kia is further expanding the PV5’s flexibility with the establishment of the PBV Conversion Center, where technicians are dedicated to adapting the PV5 to specific needs. To name a few, you can adapt the PV5 for wheelchair accessibility. Or you can make the load floor completely flat for campervan conversion. The front passenger seat can be folded up and the bulkhead can be opened to create more charging meters, or you can create a vehicle for parcel delivery (the latter only applies to the L1H2). Kia is also introducing a dedicated website where vehicle designers can find technical specifications and manuals for local customizations.
This Kia also features typical EV features such as a comprehensive infotainment system, USB ports in the dashboard, wireless updates, and various 220V power outlets.
With a lifting height of just 42 cm, the PV5’s load floor is easily accessible. A drawback: the rear door is narrowed at the floor level to give the PV5 the necessary rigidity. This makes the load floor less accessible for wide loads.
The PV5 was introduced at the 2024 IAA in Hannover and will go into series production in the autumn of 2025. The first PV5s are expected to be on the road in Europe by the end of this year. The L1H1 is currently available (as an introductory offer) for €31,125 excluding VAT and BPM.
