Volvo Group halts production of articulated dumpers in Scotland

Volvo Group halts production of articulated dumpers in Scotland. Production of Rokbak dumpers no longer profitable.

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) is ceasing production of Rokbak articulated dumpers in Motherwell, Scotland. According to the group, the factory is operating at a loss and the outlook is bleak due to trade restrictions and “logistics issues.” By this, Volvo CE means, among other things, import tariffs in the US.

Rokbak is the former Terex Trucks and was acquired by the Volvo Group in 2014. Subsequently, the name was changed to Rokbak. The factory’s annual turnover is approximately 100 million euros.

Volvo CE will retain a team of specialists for service provision and parts sales. A social plan will be implemented for employees who lose their jobs. The complex in Motherwell will be used for the development of other Volvo CE products.
