The new generation Kässbohrer e-Curtainsider, featuring improved chassis and stability, is available as an electric semi-trailer. Development took place within the EU-funded ZEFES project (“Zero Emissions Flexible Vehicle Platforms with Modular Powertrains Serving the Long Haul Freight Eco System”).
In line with the ZEFES goal to develop zero-emission vehicles and powered by BPW and ZF, the e-Curtainsider features a recuperation + traction axle that supports the drive power of a combustion engine tractor or an electric tractor.
The new generation electric e-Curtainsider features ZF’s TrailTrax technology, an electrified system that provides traction while driving and recovers energy during braking – reducing CO2 emissions by up to 16%. The heart of the system consists of ZF’s 210 kW AxTrax 2 e-axle, trailer EBS, and a battery pack, all integrated into the new Kässbohrer trailer.
