Volvo Group — PU2000 — Battery Energy Storage System

Volvo Group — PU2000 — Battery Energy Storage System. Fleet owners’ own home battery simplifies the transition to electric transport.

Volvo Trucks will sell its customers large-capacity batteries that can store energy for charging electric trucks. This is the PU2000 Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), designed, developed, and manufactured in Sweden. With this system, Volvo aims to broaden its service offering for the electrification of transport. Until now, Volvo has collaborated with external suppliers when fleet owners needed an electric energy storage system.

The PU2000 connects to the Volvo Cloud Energy Management System and the Volvo Site Controller for smooth operation, real-time monitoring, and cost-optimized energy consumption. It offers safety, quality, and security in accordance with Volvo standards. The system is equipped with fire prevention, liquid cooling, PFAS-free fire suppression with direct injection, cybersecurity, and Volvo supply chain management. PU2000 supports peak shaving, load shifting, energy cost optimization, and allows the customer to potentially generate revenue from feeding power into the grid.

The PU2000 has the shape and dimensions of a 20 ft container, and can be transported and moved as such.
