Rheinmetall – Nooteboom MPL-121-08(D) — semi-low loader for military equipment. Semi-low loader, payload 92 tonnes, loading length 13.8 meters.
This MPL is the first semi-trailer jointly developed by Nooteboom and Rheinmetall for the transport of military vehicles, such as tanks. With a tare weight of 29 tonnes and a maximum permissible weight of 121 tonnes, it has a payload of 92 tonnes. The eight pendulum axles (capacity 12 tonnes per axle line) are all steerable, allowing for both automatic and manual steering. They can also be set to the straight-ahead position.
Thanks to a suspension travel of 60 cm and a hydraulically adjustable gooseneck, the trailer can adapt to uneven terrain. Furthermore, the gooseneck is hydraulically coupled to the hydropneumatic suspension of the first three axle lines, ensuring that sufficient coupling pressure is always available on the tractor. This ensures that the towing vehicle maintains optimal traction, both on the road and off-road.
The unladen weight of this MPL already reveals that no expense was spared on steel. Loading and unloading a heavy military vehicle places an enormous load on the trailer. It therefore complies with military standards regarding chassis construction, as well as securing, brakes, and electrical systems. Furthermore, this trailer is equipped to be compatible with NATO equipment.
The trailer is equipped with adjustable guides for tracked vehicles. Adjustable and removable wheel chocks are available for wheeled vehicles. This flexibility makes the trailer suitable for a wide range of military equipment. The width of the loading platform is 299 cm, expandable to 349 cm.

This trailer also distinguishes itself in terms of field deployability. The trailer features an integrated recovery solution, where rollers and pulleys support the use of winches. This allows vehicles to be towed onto the trailer easily and in a controlled manner. The presence of a work platform with a railing on the gooseneck enables safe operation, including via remote control. Furthermore, the ramps are hydraulically adjustable in width, allowing them to be adapted to different load track widths. Hydraulic support legs at the rear ensure stability during the loading and unloading of heavy vehicles.
