DAF Trucks, Tatra Trucks, and VDL Groep present a new, advanced military DAF 6×6 truck. The vehicle illustrates the collaboration between these suppliers in designing, producing, and maintaining high-quality military trucks with unparalleled off-road capabilities. The military cargo body (‘CargoBody’) was supplied by VDL Groep.
The vehicle is available with a choice of an armored Tatra cab or a civilian DAF cab. The latter variant offers ample interior space, a low cab floor for optimal accessibility, and unprecedented safety, thanks in part to the low window lines. The Tatra cab offers less interior space but is bulletproof and, to a certain extent, resistant to mines. This DAF 6×6 military truck features the PACCAR MX13 diesel engine and a Tatra all-wheel drive system with a central, load-bearing tubular construction and independent suspension. Combined with the advanced ‘Central Tyre Inflation System’, this results in unparalleled off-road performance and exceptionally high driving comfort, even under the harshest terrain conditions.
Maintenance for these trucks is available through the DAF dealer network, with the assistance of the Belgian Ministry of Defence, which already has experience with military DAF / Tatra trucks. The military versions can be equipped with VDL bodywork developed for military applications.
These trucks are also available as 4×4 and 8×8 versions, likewise with a DAF engine and Tatra suspension; here too, the customer can choose between civilian and armored cabs.
